An Evening with Propolis Brewing
with Brewers and Blenders

Wednesday, January 17th

5:30-12pm


If you have not heard of this brewery, then you are in for a treat. They make seasonal herbal farmhouse ales inspired by old-world tradition and handcrafted with new world ingenuity. They use a lot of organic, local, & wild ingredients which transcend into their beer. Based out of Port Townsand Washington, they are churning out small-batch beers we rarely see in the bay.

We will be featuring at least five drafts and of few special bottles from this tiny brewery. We are very excited about this event and plan of doing something we rarely do which is offer different sized pours with the chance to try a few.

 Both Piper and Robert will be mingling about answering questions and are a pleasure to talk beer with or just about anything under the sun.

The beer lists for certain events will be released when they are confirmed or beers land.

Please be patient.  For the most part the beers for ticketed events will be listed at least 2 weeks prior to the event.

 

 

Saturday February 10th

Mikkeller San Diego Brewing & San Diego Beer Day 

An annual Event on the 1st Saturday of Beer Week

Main Mikkeller Bar Upstairs: 

This is an all-day event open to the public from 11am until 2am.  We will feature beers from Mikkeller SD that we have been saving or that have not seen market yet along with some very special Mikkeller Viking Club beers. We will also be hosting Modern Times for a ticketed sour and cheese event in the Sour Room.  

This is a tap take over, meaning 40 fresh beers from SD. From classics like Alesmith (Hawaiian Speedway), Lost Abbey (Genesis) (BA Serpents), Monkey Paw, Bruery (So Happens Tuesday), Port Brewing and many many more. We will be driven up beers from some newer breweries just for this event.

Stay tuned as the brewery and beer list will be updated daily as beers arrive.

 

Ticketed Sour Room Event Sat. the 10th

 Modern Times Sour Bottle Pour.  5-7pm 

We are excited to keep the tradition of pouring a collection of limited sour bottles currently released only on site at the Modern Times brewery in San Diego up until now. Both the bottles and drafts are extremely limited beers. Attending from the bruery will be Jackie Marsh and one of brewers and blenders so that the beers can be explained and questions answered.  This is a ticketed event that guarantees you five 6 oz. bottle pours & three 6 oz. draft pours paired with cheese and fresh fruits and dessert for the dark beers. Bootle pours will be for these 5 beers listed

Tuesday Feb13th“Subtle Differences” – Experience the Ingredients of Beer

Sour Room Open to the public for event: 

  • Subtle Differences “Ingredients of Beer” An interactive full bar experience teaching about single hops, malts, and adjunct beer ingredients.  We will have hops present in flower and pellet form along with hop specialists to talk about each variety.  Master Cicerones will be hosting to explain each hop, different ingredients and their effects on brewing.  This promises to be a unique event with a hands on approach, everything laid out on the table so you can walk by the ingredients and connect to the beer. Special single and double hop beers from some of the best breweries in the bay.

 


Wednesday Feb 14th

Midwest & Central California Coast Breweries Night

Featuring Silva Brewing and a Special New Belgium Foudre Series Blending

 

Mikkeller Main Bar and Public Sour Room Base Beer Event

4-12pm with special beer tapping’s at 6pm

 

Tap Take over that will feature limited beers from some of the best Midwest and Colorado breweries to be matched twenty to twenty with our own Central coast breweries of California.  We will also be featuring the new brewery Silva Brewing from the CC.  Silva Brewery is out of Paso Robles and is the creation of Chuck Silva the former head brewer at Green Flash.  For this evening we wanted to offer beers that do not make it to the bay area very often or were sent special from breweries that we support year round.  Participating breweries include but are not limited to Perennial, Prairie, New Belgium, Silva Brewing, Alvarado, Central Coast, Barrelhouse, Libertine, Casa Agria along with more breweries to come, so stay tuned.

 

Wed. Night Side Events open to the public

Silva Brewing Bay Area Debut 6pm 

New Belgium Foudre Oscar. 6pm

(Oscar is a foudre created beer that is the base beer for 4 of New Belgium’s limited sour beers. We will offer the opportunity to purchase all of the finished beers that use Oscar as their base beer) The sour room will be open this is not a ticketed event.

 

 

Ale Apothecary/AleSong Beer Dinner

This is a limited sixteen-person dinner. It will consist of ten beers paired with eight courses. Along with an additional tasting of something very special as a surprise from each brewery to finish the evening. Two of our favorite small batch breweries from Oregon will be offering up some very special beers for us to pair with local foods.  Five beers from each brewery will be paired with small courses crafted just for this dinner.

Both breweries make Belgian style ales that use a range of adjunct ingredients and barrel aging which makes their beers truly special and unique.  For these reasons, it will be a very fun and unique type of dinner.  Both Paul and Doug of their respective breweries will be in attendance and be joining us for the dinner and a Q & A. We are very excited about this event. This event has been talked about for a year and is finally going to happen, it should not be missed.  It will be worth every penny for those that are into beer and food. These beers are extremely small batch and they take from months to years to produce.
